Marrakesh travel insurance

Mountains, medinas, minarets and markets

Marrakesh perches at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It’s provided a meeting place for travellers and traders for many years. Its central square – the Djemaa el-Fna – is still filled nightly with the smoke from food stalls, the sound of street musicians, acrobatics of performers and much more besides. With so much to catch your eye, it’s wise to carry possessions and money discretely.

During the day a warren of narrow lanes are crammed with traders selling gifts, metalwork, food, herbs, rugs, instruments and – if you search long enough – just about anything else you can think of. Nothing is priced so expect to haggle, and nothing is signposted so give yourself time to get lost.

The call to prayer punctuates the old town’s day and the central mosque – the Koutoubia – even manages to occasionally drown out the heckling and hubbub from the market hawkers nearby.

Riads and relaxing

Morocco doesn’t have to be all exhilarating noise. Traditional houses called riads provide an escape from the crowds and a great way to enjoy some local luxury. Outside the medina, Majorelle Garden is a haven of peace and quiet in a tastefully preserved garden now owned by Yves Saint-Laurent. Further afield, the delightful seaside town of Essaouira is a short trip away and offers a much quieter charm plus stunning fortified sea views.

Try something different

For those who want to experience something different, you can enjoy the explosion of sound, colour and noise of Marrakesh with the peace of mind that comes from having travel insurance which offers:

And we won’t make a song and dance about arranging it!
