One of the most exciting parts of any holiday is taking part in thrilling new activities you would not normally get involved with at home. Taking part in extreme sports is becoming ever more popular and common-place – nowadays a trip to New Zealand almost has to include, as a sort of rite of passage, a bungee jump off the infamous Kawarau Bridge in Queenstown. While many insurers may consider participation in extreme sports much too risky, by and large Insure & Away like to take a common sense approach. As long as you’re relatively sensible and stick to a few basic rules, we’ll be happy to cover you under one of our comprehensive travel policies. Some of the exhilarating extreme sports we provide cover for include:
Hot air ballooning – We’ll cover you, no questions asked, on the proviso that you’re on an organised pleasure ride. That means no solo ballooning, balloon racing or world record breaking balloon attempts, a la Richard Branson!
Abseiling – We cover this automatically, so long as you stick to the organiser’s guidelines and follow their safety precautions.
Jet boating – As long as you’re not racing, you’re covered.
Power boating – Again, as longer as you don’t intend to race, we’ll cover you. We do exclude the personal liability benefits of our policy for power boating however, given the volatile nature of the sport.
Parascending – This is another exciting activity that we cover automatically, so long as you are only parascending over water. Parascending over land represents a far higher insurance risk and requires you to give us a call to talk it over first before we can offer cover.
Bungee jumping – We will cover this as long as you remember to use a bungee cord!
Once we’ve offered you cover, you’ll benefit from a huge range of protective measures on our Premier level policy, including up to £10,000,000 for emergency medical treatment, cover for emergency dental treatment, repatriations back to the UK by air ambulance if needs be, cover for lost or stolen baggage and belongings, cover for lost or stolen passports, tickets, travel documents and money, cover for cancellations, delays and curtailments, and much more. Need more information? Don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team.
Price of cover is dependent both on number of travellers as well as travellers’ ages. To calculate the exact cost of your cover, use Quick Quote.
